Immersion in the horizontal well

Technische Werke Schussental GmbH & Co KG, based in Ravensburg, had a work assignment of a special kind. A defective pipe water pump had to be replaced at a horizontal well. The affected pumping station is a horizontal well with a depth of around 10 metres, which is continuously supplied with fresh groundwater from five star-shaped collecting pipes.

In order to replace the defective pipe water pump, the well had to be taken out of operation and the water level lowered. The five gate valves of the DN 250 collection pipes were replaced in the process because two gate valves had to be replaced.

The Hawle E3 wedge gate valves used are characterised by their smooth operation and durability.

As these gate valves are located at a depth of 9 metres, they could only be replaced with the help of a diver. With the expertise of the diver and the use of specialised equipment, the valves were successfully replaced. The fountain is now fully functional again.
