The drainage element serves the purpose of receiving and draining of the splash water accumulating during air release. Moreover, the drainage element protects the drainage opening from roots growing in.
Generally, the drainage element should be surrounded by loose gravel suitable for drainage.
On installation, the drainage element shall be pushed over the standpipe of the air valve set (model no. 992, 992HA, 992PN) downward as far as it will go.
