An industrial company in Mühlhausen in der Oberpfalz expanded its premises, which meant that the existing water connection no longer supplied sufficient water. The municipal water supplier was asked to provide a second DN 50 service pipe for the new premises. In order to achieve the desired larger water volume, it was also necessary to drill at least 50 mm into the main pipe.

Previously, the tried-and-tested Hawlinger® tapping valve with ZAK 46 outlet with a maximum diameter of 36 mm could be used to tap from above. This would not have been sufficient for a connection to the main pipe with a diameter of 50 mm. A more complex solution with a flange tapping clamp or weld-on tapping valve would have been necessary.
