The underground hydrant set replaces complex and expensive manhole constructions. In case of maintenance or repair work access to the hydrant is ensured without any digging work. Closing the drain hole if required (e.g. high groundwater level) is possible via a suitable end fitting. When the drain hole is closed, the set shall be checked for water transfer from above and drained, if required, via a suction lance, hand pump or similar equipment.
Analogous to the standard version of the freeflow underground hydrant shutting off is effected via a shut-off blade of stainless steel.
